Product Information - Edgetapes & Veneers
Edgetape is used to cover the exposed edge of a finished panel.
It is either ironed on in the case of a pre-glued tape or it is
bonded to the edge with an edgebanding machine that applies glue to
the tape, presses and bonds it to the edge, and then trims the
excess tape allowing a smooth edge. Edgetape is available in a
variety of thicknesses and widths. The widths vary from ½ " to 24"
and the thicknesses vary from .4 mm to 5mm. Edgetape is made out of
different materials like Polyester, PVC, Melamine, and Real wood
veneers. PVC is most commonly used with our fused melamines and the
real wood veneers are most common with our hardwood plywood
products. All are available in both pre-glued and automatic. There
are a number of colors of edgetape that may be used to match the
variety of solid colors, woodgrains, or other patterns of low
pressure laminates and the varieties of high pressure laminates. In
addition, there are a variety of wood species that are available.
Real wood veneers are also a product that is available in most
wood species. Veneers must have a backer on them to give them
stability. The backer options are a 5, 10, and 20 mil paper backer
(10 mil being the most common), and a laminate backer as well as a
3m pressure sensitive self-stick back. They are available in a
variety of sizes but most common are 4'x8', 2'x8', 3'x8', and
4'x10'.
